There is sun! At least for now. As you know I have been chatting (or possibly bitching) about the lack of sun and the abundance of rain. We need the rain, we really do, but a bit of sun is a good thing and maybe a bit of drying out of the top level of soil as well. Or let’s compromise not on drying out as in dry, but maybe we can just have a little less rain, so that we are not in a constant slush. And yes I am again talking about the weather. I am aware of that.

But we are not the folks (usually) that stand about and just bitch without taking our problems into our own hands and work toward a solution.

So I bought paddock plates. There are lots of instruction videos out there on how to lay them. First level the dry ground, then add a layer of roadbase (ideally flat flat … as in with a laser sort of leveled), then add the plates, then add sand on top. And if you do only do a small area, please frame it with a wood frame so that the corners are protected.

Sounds really complicated. At least for me who doesn’t have a laser, rodebase, a tractor to move it all and maybe worst of all, not the patience for creating this obsessive seeming perfection. I rather obsess about horses and their training/well-being than about roadbase and paddock plates. So my theory (and yes I am strongly assuming my German-in-construction-ancestors are turning in their graves – sorry Opa!), so my theory is, that considering how muddy and slushy it is at the moment, we can put them down and smush them in. All the rain and mud gotta be good for something right?

So join me at todays blog and look at the beauty of imperfection and what might come from it.

And: “Thank you mud for being so muddily helpful!”
