Intermediate Level
Develop collection, lateral work, and greater independence.
Level 4 is the second stage of the Intermediate Helios Harmony Certification and builds substantially on the skills developed in Level 3. You will begin asking for greater collection and engagement while becoming increasingly independent in the way you handle, long rein, and ride your horse.
At this level, the work begins to include more sophisticated changes of balance, flexion, and positioning, while continuing to develop the foundations that will eventually lead toward piaffe, passage, advanced lateral work, and greater collection.
Level 4 includes:
- Canter spirals to develop the first more collected canter steps
- Introduction of the first lengthening steps
- Further development of the half steps
- Independent double long reining
- Introduction to the B Patterns
- Shoulder-in, travers, renvers, and half pass
- More advanced Assisted In-Hand work
- Increasingly independent ridden lateral work
Level 4 includes 11 practical video assessments, each personally reviewed by your Helios Harmony assessor. You will receive individual feedback on every submission and, where necessary, have the opportunity to use that feedback to improve your work and resubmit before progressing.
Most assessment videos may be up to 2 minutes 30 seconds long. Where an exercise requires more time to demonstrate safely and clearly, a longer maximum video length will be stated on that assessment.
You may submit a maximum of three attempts for each assessment.
We are not looking for perfection. We are looking for safe, thoughtful training, correct understanding of the exercises, and increasing independence, feel, and communication between horse and handler or rider.
On successful completion, you will receive your Helios Harmony Level 4 Certification and become eligible to continue to Level 5.
Level 4 is available to students who have successfully completed Helios Harmony Certification Level 3. Level 4 is purchased separately.
